The Canton de Fayence
The Canton of Fayence is situated on the edge of the Alpes Maritimes and forms part of the Provence Cote d’Azur region of France. This is the area where most of our properties are situated. Located inland midway from the coast of Cannes, west of Grasse and east of the provincial town of Draguignan, the area nestles between the magnficient backdrop of the mountains and villages of Alpes-de-Hautes Provence and the Massif de l’Esterel and down to the coast of Frejus/St Raphael.
Within the Canton are the villages of Fayence, Tourrettes, Callian, Montauroux, Bagnols en Foret, St Paul en Foret, Seillans and Mons. Each village has its own individual charm and has retained many of its medieval origins. Taking time out to wander through the back lanes and alleyways will give you glimpses of times gone by, open stone work, over hanging balconies, small doorways - usually framed by bougainvillea or hanging geraniums giving that beautiful splash of colour. All are well worth exploring.
Each village has a morning market with a good choice of fresh local produce and there is an excellent choice of Supermarkets and local amenities such as banks, post offices and of course the essential bread shop for those delicious warm croissants first thing in the morning!!
Activities and what to do
All our properties are within easy reach of the coast of either Cannes, Mandelieu La Napoule or Frejus/St Raphael. The beaches are sandy and facilities are excellent with plenty of waterside restaurants, shops and usual resort amenities.
Lac de St Cassien is also within a short driving distance. The lake is world famous for its carp fishing and permits are easy to obtain for the fishing enthusiasts. The lake is also a wonderful place to walk, swim, take a pedalo or canoe or just relax and take in the views.
If your enjoyment is a round of Golf then you will be spoilt for choice of the various Golf Clubs in the area or experience the impressive 36 hole course at Terre Blanche.
Grasse and its associations with the World’s perfume industry is around 30kms to the east of our region. A large bustling town with Museums ,Galleries, a beautiful Cathedral and wonderful boutiques and shops.
The choice of what to do and where to go is endless. Because of the location of the area the decision of which direction to explore can be the hardest one you need to make on your holiday. To make it easier and to avoid those “wasted trips” on not being too sure of the villages or towns, each of our properties has an in-house book with helpful hints on “good day’s out”. Compiled by experience of the region as a whole we hope you will find it useful in choosing what to do while you are here.
We hope we have given you some idea of our region but if you need any additional information we trust you will contact us directly - or even better still come and have a look at this beautiful area........................See you soon!!
